Academy Participants Honored at Banquet

At the annual banquet of the GO GO Academy, sixth grade and seventh grade girls, who completed a nine-month program, were honored.

The girls attend the Millwood Arts Academy.

The girls who were participants in the GO GO Academy conducted the May 22 banquet program.

Of the 21 participants, 17 completed the program.

Honored were Jalia Allen, Princess Byrd, Elizabeth Frazier, Ja’Myra McQueen and Czariah Mitchell,

Also honored were Corricena Nero, Alaijah Shells, Tierraney Smith, McKenzie Stampley, Asia Wallace, N’kiyah Childs, Patrice Frazier, Sidnee Gaines, Justice Hubbard, Emoni James, Tymara James, and Brooklyn Stampley.

The girls attend sessions on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, and participate in sessions designed to teach “life skills,” as well as career-interest events.

Career women and college students conduct some of the sessions.

Sessions were led by Londa West, Dr. LaTonya Shelton Miller, Patricia Hunt, Oklahoma County District Judge Michelle McElwee and Mary Ann Moore.

Joanne Davis, Aquilah Ahmad, LaTeka Alexander, Janel Tyson, Regennia Johnson, Ameyka Pittman and Tiffani Bate were also session leaders.
