Financial Aid Sessions Held

Chronicle News Services

STILLWATEROklahoma State University held two scholarship and financial aid sessions for Oklahoma City area high school seniors and their families.
The Jan. 17 event was exclusively for Oklahoma’s Promise-eligible students and their families, and the Jan. 22 event was for all high school seniors and their families.
The presentations guided families through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid and helped college-bound students make the most of funding opportunities.
Both programs featured a session to explain how the Oklahoma’s Promise Award can be applied at OSU.
“OSU awards more than $280 million in scholarships, grants and financial aid each year,” Kyle Wray, an OSU vice president, said, “but understanding the steps can be challenging.”
The two Oklahoma City-held sessions helped families navigate the steps.
Students and their families should file the required forms as soon as possible in order to have the best opportunity for financial aid options.
The form is available online at fafsa.gov, and it helps determine eligibility for federal grants, work-study, loans, Oklahoma Tuition Aid Grants and need-based scholarships.
Priority for programs with limited funds is given to students who file the forms early, a statement said.
Students should also complete their application for admission and scholarships to OSU before Feb. 1 to ensure full scholarship consideration, the statement also said.
Students can apply online at admissions.okstate.edu/apply.
