Oklahoma flu deaths grow, several schools close doors
14 deaths in state

Flu deaths in Oklahoma have nearly doubled in a week and several schools have shut their doors to allow sick children to recover.

There have been six new flu deaths in the state bringing the total to 14, including one of in Oklahoma County and one in Cleveland County. More than 600 people are in hospitals with the flu. That is double the number as the same time last year.
The Health Department says seniors have been the hardest hit, but there are also a lot of kids with the flu. Konawa schools were closed Thursday due to the amount of students out with the flu. The district said it used the day to disinfect things such as water fountains, desks and doorknobs.
At least one elementary in Duncan will not open until Monday at the earliest. School leaders say 25 percent of their students are ill.
