Women of Color Expo & Festival Is Saturday
Health and Wellness Seminars to Be Offered

The annual Women of Color Expo & Festival will be held from 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at Metro Tech, 1900 Springlake Dr.
Michael Baisden, an author and a radio talk-show host, will be the speaker at an awards luncheon set to be held from noon until 1:30 p.m.
Sponsored by Perry Publishing & Broadcasting, the event will feature seminars on health and wellness, family issues, education and entrepreneurship.
“How a College Degree Can Change Your Life” will be one of the seminars, which will be presented by a representative of Mid-America Christian University.
“Tax Preparation Tips,” another seminar, will be led by a representative of Prestige Tax Service.
“Living Debt Free” will be presented by a representative of Allegiance Credit Union.
A seminar on wedding planning will be presented by Stephanie Hundley, and an additional seminar on weight loss management and nutrition will be led by Karen Funderburg, a nutrition specialist.
Cox Communications will hold a career fair, and managers from that company will be on-hand to discuss career opportunities.
Oklahoma Supreme Court Chief Justice Vicki Miles LaGrange will be presented the annual Community Leadership Award.
Renee Henry, owner of Lu’s Popcorn City, will be the recipient of the Business Woman of the Year Award.
Millwood Public School District Supt. Gloria Williams Griffin will be presented this year’s Educator of the Year Award.
Sharron Jackson, president of the Oklahoma City Metropolitan Black Chamber of Commerce, will serve as the luncheon’s master of ceremonies.
“Our goal is to celebrate the contributions of women of color,” said Johnny Moore, manager of the exposition and festival, “and to applaud them for the roles they play as homemakers, decision-makers and corporate executives.”
